Nintendo Game Boy DMG: Analog Sync Mod

from HEXA 雑音

With the new version of LSDJ 4.8.0 you can sync LSDJ with Korg Volca/Monotribe.
You can do it by plugging togheter a Nintendo Game Link Cable and a 3.5mm mini jack, BUT if you don’t have a Game Link Cable here’s your MOD.

You just need a 3.5mm mini jack female, and you have to connect it to the Gameboy Link port.

Solder point looking at GB with the link port on the right. (fig.1)

You have to connect the pin 3 (CLK) with the left channel of the mini jack and the pin 6 (GND) with the GND of the mini jack. (fig.2)

Make an hole in your GB case to put the 3.5mm jack female.(fig.3)

Now you only have to connect the SYNC OUT port of your synthesizer with the jack port you put in the Game Boy. (fig.4)

Then as reports the LSDJ 4.8 manual:
“In project screen, set LSDj to ANALOG sync mode. The TICKS/STEP setting controls how many LSDj ticks should be generated for each incoming sync signal. Depending on the synthesizer, it may be necessary to change this setting to make LSDj run at the right speed. For Korg Monotribe, it should typically be set to 6, whereas for Korg Volca, it should be C.”

Do it carefully or you can damage your GB.
Hope to be helpful for someone!
